Self Care

Since I made it back from Ghana 🇬🇭 I have been on an absolute roller coaster. The first week I purposely scheduled meeting to fill my schedule to keep me in my routine. By the time I made it to my second week home, it caught up with me.  Talk about feeling tired 💤. I felt like a sleep woman walking. I took about two days to get myself acclimated and then off I went, good as new. 

Why am I sharing this?  A friend of my a mental health professional posted a video on her Instagram page about self care and it got me thinking about all the excuses I make for not taking care of myself more consistently.  Today, I saw another friend’s post about self care sharing a surgery resulting from not taking complete care of herself.  Many of you all know our daughter Daniella (Dee) plays college ball 🏀, and I find myself reminding her about self care.  What’s the point?  We all are given one life in this one body. I believe it’s so much easier to enjoy it from a healthy vantage point. 


Your self care may not be like mine. I encourage you to create a self care routine and stick to it. Make it your own. Here are some key things to keep in mind while you are thinking of what you will do. First, start with what helps you relax. Stressless activities versus stressful activities. I like going to the spa. Second, consider what sustains a  healthy you. These activities maybe good stress activities. I like hiking with my hubby, going to the doctor, asking for help when I need it and so on. Lastly, spend time with someone who allows you to be real. They don’t drain you with their problems. They simply let you be without judgement. Outside of my hubby, my sister is my go to for this. She has a way of just letting me be me that is refreshing. Now you know, now what?  Well, put it all together and make time for these precious moments in your life for they my friend could make all the difference to a vibrant you!
