WIN! Think about the word “win” for a moment. When was the last time you heard that word in your life. Who told you that you can win? Your Mom, Dad, Teacher, Friend, or maybe a stranger that just simply saw something special in you. How did it make you feel? You may have felt joy, excitement, or the shivers inside of you to prove them right! What did you do after you heard those three words? Some may cherish the moment wishing it would last forever. While others may reflect on the moment, and move on preparing for the next win.

Some of you may think that it is great for the winners, but what about the losers. There are winners and losers. Well, to the losers out there or those who feel like losers. I’d say you may have more wins than you are aware of. You may have learned something from that loss that will cause you to do better or find what really works for you. So, did you really lose? You maybe becoming aware of something about me right now. I am a positive person. I seek to see the positive. So, for those of you reading this article that may say I have never heard those words. To you I say “You Can Win!”

Winning reminds me of all the people who have gone before me. The Dr. Martin Luther Kings, former President Barack Obama, and others who blazed a trail for me. Many of them I have never had the honor of meeting personally and yet feel move to act because of their example. In the month of April we honor Dr. Martin Luther King for his sacrifice. Dr. King carries a winning legacy. I am sure that the plot to kill him was an endeavor to halt his progress. He is still winning today! We are living his dream today. Mr. Obama the first black President perpetuate Dr. King’s dream. You and I have the opportunity to do this every single day.

Yes, I believe YOU CAN WIN! I believe this message brings hope to the lives of every member of our community. I must caution you that I am not saying that winning is easy. There is a sacrifice for every win we earn. For some winning requires your last stretch of energy at times. I still believe you can win. As the old saying goes, “tie another knot and keep holding on!”

What will it take to win? What winning requires of you it may not require of me. Though our paths may not be the same there are things we can all do. First, define what it is we want to win? Second, we have to develop a strategy to win. I call this your “Win Strategy.” Thirdly, we have to get things done. Meaning “Do it, Do it, and Do it, until you get it done!” Finally, we have to be consistent by excelling.

Invite you to join the challenge to win! Let’s do it together!
